A typical day for a health insurance agent involves 3-5 client consultations by phone or video, comparing plans from multiple carriers, handling enrollments and follow-ups, and participating in team training. Most agents work 30-40 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Here's what a real day looks like.

Morning: Prep and Outreach (8:00-10:00 AM)

  • Review calendar and confirm scheduled appointments
  • Follow up with leads from the previous day via call or text
  • Check email for client questions or carrier updates
  • Quick team huddle or training call (15-30 minutes)

Mid-Morning: Client Consultations (10:00 AM-12:00 PM)

  • Phone/video consultations with 2-3 clients
  • Each call is 20-45 minutes: understand their needs, compare options, explain plans
  • Use quoting tools to pull real-time plan comparisons

Afternoon: Enrollments and Follow-Up (1:00-4:00 PM)

  • Complete enrollments for clients who chose a plan
  • Submit applications and handle required paperwork
  • Follow up with clients who need more time to decide
  • 1-2 more consultation calls

Late Afternoon: Admin and Learning (4:00-5:00 PM)

  • Update client notes in CRM
  • Review new product updates or carrier announcements
  • Personal development: training modules, compliance coursework
